About Me

I have always been an early adopter of technology. My passion for taking and developing pictures began I was ten years old. Growing up with a printing press in the lower level of our house along with my interest in photography, made media creation a strong part of my life. When traditional typesetting and image processing became a digital process, I was excited with the new possibilities but there are many times when I miss the smell of the darkroom or freshly printed pages.

I completed my undergrad degree in Interdisciplinary Studies of Communications and Art. With a strong background in media production, my career is diverse and have worked in everything from publishing to video to motion graphics to computer networking and of course, education. I have been teaching Media Communication and Web Design courses since 1996 both on ground and online.

When my career shifted to education, I discovered teaching to be very rewarding. I taught graphic communications in secondary education for ten years and then my career shifted slightly to become technology director for the school district while maintaining a presence in the classroom as an adjunct instructor at the higher education level teaching communications courses, web design and digital imaging.

Over the course of my career, I witnessed many changes in education and the communications industry. It is satisfying to see the impact I made within the companies I worked at and with all the students I taught over the years. While photography is at the core of my skillset, media design and communications combined with computer networking and web design combine to define who I am and what to expect as an educator.
