My Work in Media Production

Media development has been a major part of my life for the past 40+ years. Although I enjoy the non-linear editing methods in digital film production, there are times when I miss the experience of splicing clips together. Most of the media content I have are tutorials for the courses I teach. However, I do have a few animated short film projects currently in process and look forward to sharing them. I hope you enjoy reviewing my work, as it represents my passion for the visual arts.

Resolution and Color with Rachael and Daniel

Experimenting with the possibilities of Adobe Character Animator to create informative content, I have Rachael and Daniel explain how color and resolution relate to graphic design. The character files were acquired from Illustrator files and rigged in Character Animator. The dialogue was taken from a text file and AI generated. Animating in Adobe Character Animator requires import of the characters, background image and sound files. I rendered the animation four times, once for each of the two characters, one two shot and one full screen. The four movie files were imported into Final Cut Pro in order to perform the final editing process. Frame Based Animation

GIF animations once ruled the Internet and many were simple flashing text or colors. While the methods of creating GIF animations have not changed much, the GIF animations found online today are far more sophisticated and esthetically pleasing. I created a tutorial on the basics of creating a frame based GIF animation using Photoshop, demonstrating how to create a bird in flight. While you may not think of Photoshop as the go to application for animation, creating animations using this tool can produce some very sophisticated animations. I used Snaggit to capture the screen demonstration and Final Cut Pro to perform the final edits. Image Considerations

While print design may not dominate the media industry as it once did, print design is still a major industry and know how to design for print is paramount to the graphic designers toolset. Considerations with image formatting for print and web design differ greatly. This video explores both print and web design practices and explains how color modes and resolution settings are set for each medium. I used Snaggit to capture the screen demonstration and Final Cut Pro to perform the final edits. AI and the growing effects on society

Today we are seeing a new surge in technology. The advances today are not so much in processing power but in artificial intelligence. I created a presentation describing how artificial intelligence is effecting our society. Some state that the AI systems are already smarter than we are. Will we be able to keep this technology in check?
